gazz

One
weekend, just days before the dawning of a new millennium, Jimmy,
(singer/guitarist and songwriter of the band now known as Gazz)
sat writing and recording a group of songs which would, 3 weekends
later, become Gazz debut independently produced
and
released cd.
Originally
intended as a solo experiment, Jimmy recruited his roommates to
help with drums and vocals on a few songs he was working on. He
never imagined the chemistry they’d have, that they’d
be writing and recording an entire album or that Angelia (who’d
never even picked up a bass) would end
up being, not only, the other voice of Gazz, but his bassist and
songwritingpartner.
As
soon as they sat down to record, it became obvious that there was
an undeniable musical chemistry between these long time best friends.
The biggest surprise came when Angelia picked up a bass, at Jimmy’s
suggestion, in a borrowed rehearsal studio in Silver Lake . “I
just felt really comfortable working with her and something clicked.
I thought it would be so cool if she played bass.” (Jimmy).
Within a few hours, they’d tracked two songs and were making
plans to go the next morning to buy Angie’s first bass.
They
recorded their self-titled and critically acclaimed release in the
studio in Silver Lake, saved up some money and released it soon
thereafter.
Two of its tracks (“I'm Okay” and “Sex G”)
charted on Garageband.com's Top 10 at #8 in Pop/Rock out of 14,000
and #9 Alternative out of 16,000.Garageband also named Gazz one
of the top twelve bands Los Angeles that year. “Gazz”
also garnered a “9 out of 10” review by producer Jack
Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mud Honey) on the site. In addition,
four of its tracks were licensed to film and television.
Gazz
are currently recording their latest (of four) e.p. at REMO Music
Studios in Silverlake, CA.
